Heritage Roof Restoration Bangor Blue

St Mel's Cathedral in Ireland is one of Ireland's most famous buildings and was originally slated in the mid 1800s with 35" x 24" Penrhyn Bangor Blues.  The building suffered heavy damage in the fire and it was important to all involved that the interior and exterior were restored as closely to their original state as possible.

Following a fire in 2009, the Cathedral underwent significant restoration and LBS were proud to be able to match the exact size of the original slate used over 150 years ago.  Penrhyn Quarry in Wales is one of the last remaining quarries in the world able to cut a slate to a required size - as was needed for this project.
