In December 2005 I placed a call to the offices of LBS, as I had just inspected the attic space of a dormer dwelling I was building for a private client. I had used a third generation membrane on the roof and was preparing to insulate the structure when I came upon "a leak in the roof". The problem about this leak is that it appeared to be spread all across the roof! I phoned my local builders merchant who wasn't able to explain what I had witnessed and advised that I contact LBS as their salespeople had a lot of experience with roofing and were very helpful. The following morning I met with the LBS representative on site and upon inspection, he was able to confirm to me that the roof was not leaking but in fact the problem was condensation build up on the underside of the membrane. Following on from a thorough investigation of my roof he was able to recommend a proper ventilation package which cured my problem within 5 days. Better still, the problem has never re-occurred. I've since gone on to use LBS products on 4 other developments and have recommended LBS to fellow builders who have experienced similar ventilation problems.

I had heard nightmare stories about some of the slates on offer in the marketplace and did not know what I was going to do until I spent time with a rep who called out to the house one evening. He spent plenty of time going through the slates he had on offer and I was particularly taken with the Samaca Vigo slate as I was building a stone house and liked the slighter rougher texture of the slate. When the LBS rep explained about the size of the Samaca company and the thousands of tonnes of this particular slate which were sold in the country every year over the last 20 years, I knew I was onto a winner. I came across LBS at the Corrys Self-Build exhibition in Belfast. They were extremely helpful and informative and took plenty of time with me going through the range of slates on offer from the different countries and explaining the differences in them. As this was our dream home we decided to go for the Penrhyn Blue Bangor - I am so glad we did. Although it worked out more expensive than the Spanish slates on offer, the roof blends in perfectly with the surrounding area and really makes the house really stand out.

I had looked at dozens of slates from a number of companies and was totally confused by the amount on offer and the conflicting reports I was being told. When I spoke to my roofer, he said that in 30 years working with slates, he had never come across a slate as good as the Forna Ultra grade.

So I took his advice and went for it - the end result was exceptional - the roof looks absolutely perfect, wastage was next to nothing and the LBS rep was more than helpful, calling back to site on a number of occasions making sure everything was going according to plan.
