Roofing Ventilation & Accessories

Roofing Ventilation & AccessoriesWhy ventilate? The average home produces 24 pints of atmospheric water every day, of which ½ escapes into the roof space. Home owners generate this moisture through cooking, showering, bathing, exercising, etc. Adequate ventilation must be provided to remove this water before it has time to damage the roof structure. If there is insufficient ventilation, the build-up of moisture over a period of time can cause roof timbers to rot, as well as rusting and weakening of metal fixings, felt damage and mould growth. In addition, personal items stored in the loft area may be rendered useless. These problems can be expensive to rectify.

Condensation is also encouraged through the widespread use of insulating materials, central heating and double glazing. With reduced natural ventilation, the temperature differential between dwelling areas and the cold roof space is increased. Warm internal air carrying high levels of vapour is drawn by convection to the colder areas of the building, including the roof void.

The best way to avoid condensation build up in attic voids is to ventilate the eaves continuously and to
apply high level ventilation where necessary.

LBS offer a comprehensive range of roof ventilation products which are suitable for new build and refurbishment situations.

Our product range includes:

  • Eaves Ventilation
