LBS Buys Bangor Blue Quarry

With their recent acquisition of Welsh Slate, ownership of the world famous 'Bangor Blue' has now passed to LBS (Lagan Building Solutions).

Included in the deal are all the Welsh Slate's roofing, aggregate and architectural interests at Penrhyn, Blaenau Ffestiniog, Cwt-y-Bugail and Pen-yr-Orsedd. Welsh Slate employs over 250 people in North Wales.

Bangor Blues from the Penrhyn quarry, so called after the Welsh port from which they were shipped, have been used to roof buildings throughout Ireland for generations. So it is fitting that a local company should take proud ownership of this prestigious brand. Peter Lagan, managing director of LBS, explains the rationale behind the company's purchase:
